APRIL

27:  Headstart Preschool visit Laura Irwin Elementary School

27:  5th Grade Science Expo in the LIE Gym - Please plan on joining Mrs. Dearcorn’s 5th grade class to learn about science during their 5th grade Science Expo.  Over the past 6-weeks her class has been learning about the scientific process and how to apply it to their own science experiments.  Come and find out what diaper absorb the most liquid, too how many rubber bands does it take to explode a watermelon and many more exciting things as well.

27:  LIE Talent Show permission form due.  Talent Show will be May 16, 2018 Time TBA

30:  BINGO FOR BOOKS at Laura Irwin Elementary Time:  5:30-7:00 p.m.

 

MAY

1-3:  WYTOPP testing – Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and a healthy breakfast.  It is important for your child to be in school these days.   

7:  LIE PTO Meeting

7-11:  Last week for Reading Grandparents to read at LIE for the year.

8:  LIE PTO Muffins for Moms 7:30-8:15 a.m.

8:  LIE Music Concert at RMHS 6:30 p.m. (have kids at the gym by 6:15 p.m.)

16:  Laura Irwin Elementary School Talent Show – If your child is interested please have Talent Show permission slip turned in to the office by Friday, April 27th.  Try-outs will be held Monday, April 30th during lunch recess.  If your child is singing a song please print the lyrics to be reviewed.

ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK TODAY!!!

The Laura Irwin Elementary School 2017-2018 Yearbook is still available for purchase.  You can purchase Yearbooks by doing the following:

  1. Email Skye at cervantes@bgh4.k12.wy.us and let her know how many yearbooks you would like to purchase and send money to school. (no deadline – you can purchase until yearbooks are gone)

Yearbooks will not be in until April/May.

Beyond the Bell:  Monday – Thursday 3:30-5:00 p.m. at LIE Gym.

 

Laura Irwin Elementary Tutoring

Referred program provided by Laura Irwin Elementary to help your child with academics.  It runs Monday and Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m.  Program starts Wednesday, September 27th.

SCHOOL REMINDERS

PARENTS WHEN PICKING UP YOUR CHILDREN AFTER SCHOOL REMINDER:

All traffic should run one direction starting on the south side of the school by playground (KG pick up location) heading North to the front doors of the school (1st-2nd Grade pick up location) and East down towards the basketball courts (3rd-5th grade pick up location).  If you have to park across the street from the school please meet your child at their pick up location and walk them across the street to your vehicle.   The school does not want your child going across the street on their own.  We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our children safe.

What is Infinite Campus?

Infinite Campus is a student information system.  The Campus Portal allows parents and students to view assignments, attendance, grades, a student’s schedule, teacher comments, etc…

 

ELEMENTARY BAND PROGRAM

Our band program is looking for band instruments.  If you have instruments you would like to donate, or know of anyone please contact the school at 568-2488. At this time we are looking for trombones, but would accept any extra instruments for our 5th-12th grade band program.

 

SCHOOL LUNCH

If a student’s lunch balance dips below $20 (negative), it is school policy to serve that student a sandwich in place of the hot lunch. If you have special circumstances or need to fill out a free/reduced form for this school year, please speak to someone at the front office.

 

WINTER APPAREL

Students will be expected to play outside until the temperature or wind chill drops below 10 degrees.  Please be sure your student has proper clothing to be outside in these conditions.  Please send your child to school with appropriate clothing for the weather.

 

KID CARE CHIP

The Children’s Health insurance program (CHIP) provides affordable health coverage for eligible Wyoming children and teens ages 0-18.  Coverage:  sports & back to school physicals, regular check-ups, immunizations, dentist visits, hospital care, mental health services, prescriptions, and more.

IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT RIDE THE BUS, PLEASE DO NOT SEND THEM TO SCHOOL UNTIL 8:00 A.M.  (UNLESS THEY EAT BREAKFAST AT SCHOOL 7:30 – 8:00 a.m.).  If your child arrives at school prior to 8:00 a.m. please drop them off at the cafeteria where we have staff on duty.  Staff arrives on playground duty at 8:00 a.m.  School dismisses at 3:30 p.m. on Monday-Thursday.  Dismissal time on Friday is 12:25 p.m.  Please pick up your child promptly at those times.

 

REMEMBER – IF THERE ARE CHANGES IN YOUR CHILD’S DAILY TRANSPORTATION SCHEDULE; PLEASE SEND A NOTE WITH YOUR CHILD.  The school has an end of the day routine for each of your children.  We cannot change that end of the day routine unless you provide the school with a note or phone call.  Please feel free to call or email Skye at 568-2488 or skye.cervantes@bgh4.k12.wy.us with your child’s change in transportation.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact Skye at the school.

 

LOST & FOUND:  Laura Irwin Elementary has a lost & found box in the front entry way of the school.  If your child comes home missing items please check the LOST & FOUND. 

 

BOX TOPS:  Laura Irwin Elementary collects BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION and LABELS FOR EDUCATION (soup labels).  Please send Tops and Labels with your child to school.  You can send them in zip-lock baggies, envelopes, etc…
